I've always thought that VO is a beast hard to tame as you have to take the role of a composer, an arranger and an engineer. Not to mention the editing process to make every instrument play as it should. I like to remind myself how much work there is to it, just to produce a single piece. Then I can decide if I want to invest my precious time in writing music or something else. I enjoy writing in Musescore lately so I can get the satisfaction of actually composing without the frustration of "realizing" with samples. Then, if the track is a keeper I can move to the DAW for the dirty work.
I'm sorry for your loss but I am also glad for another animal that enjoyed a good life.
