Dragonfly Hall high CPU usage

Well to be fair, we can't rule out the possibility that it might be some strange issue on my end that has nothing to do with your plugins specifically. On the other hand, if that were the case, I would have noticed it on other plugins as well I suppose.

Hmm, here's a thought: Let me try Dragonfly in a different DAW. I have only Reaper installed ATM but I can try Cakewalk or something like that.

Tried it, but Sonar appears to have no per-plugin CPU usage meter so that made me no wiser.

I think I remember seeing Ardour has a plugin CPU usage browser functionality?

If it's bad enough, you should see system CPU usage jump anyway. Just load up only Dragonfly, test, then a known-ok plugin, test.

As I mentioned on the other thread, this feature has had multiple bugs in the past, so I'm suspicious that it might also be the cause of the increased CPU usage.

Nope, same thing still happens. But I'm also still seeing the spectrogram so not sure exactly what has been removed... ?

No difference I'm afraid, the bug remains :/

Also, if it's any help, I tried removing two of the plugin instances and it happens regardless.

Thanks for letting me know. As of now, none of my quick-fix ideas are working, so I'm going to have to do a deep dive into this to find out what's happening. Between trying to hold down a day job and take care of a house full of children during a global crisis, I can't promise when I can get to this.

Don't worry about it I can always use a different reverb while working on the track, then switch to Dragonfly when rendering. Alternatively -- since it appears that CPU usage goes down as soon as the plugin receives audio input -- I could try inserting something that emits low-level noise before the reverb plugins.

Inserting a white noise generator plugin set to -100dB before Dragonfly Hall effectively prevents the bug from happening. The three instances have been idling for five minutes now with each individual CPU load never going above 1.6%.

It's a little kludgy, but it works.
