In case anyone is interested, there's a trombone composition contest being run by Christopher Bill, as somewhat renowned interwebbys trombone player:

While I generally don't think competitions are typically all that great, they do provide some clear cut limitations and guidelines. In my experience, this actually enhances the creative spark rather than smothering it. If nothing else, you might learn a lot about how trombones make noise, and - very occasionally (read: extremely rarely) - make actual music... ;-)

The finalists (top 10) will be announced the third week of September, and the final results will be released October 1st. Judges' sheets will be made available to the finalists, but due to the quantity of submissions, no other feedback should be expected.
