I have the most unlikely Windows 10 setup to run without a hitch, which is a bootcamped early 2011 MacBook Pro. It was even rather messily bootcamped to begin with. With the DVD drive broken, and an inability to boot from USB, I had to do dirty things with VirtualBox disk images to get it installed. But... Somehow, it runs without a hitch.
My guess is that it's just messily developed, and whether it works flawlessly or not is something of a coin toss. There's even a rumor about having to call it Windows 10 (instead of Windows 9) to avoid name collision issues with legacy Win9x code. It's, of course, just a rumor, and my guess is just a guess.
They knew.
