Yes, predelay only affects the late reverb. The idea is that early reflections happen immediately. Also be aware that a little bit of the early reflections are fed into the late algorithm.

Dragonfly Room is still in flux, but it is hopefully close to settling down. I decided that I don't like the oversample knob, I'll likely replace it with "size". Sessions saved with the beta versions of Dragonfly Room Reverb aren't guaranteed to load properly with future versions of the plugin, but I'll try to keep things stable once I release version 2.0.0

I see. Well, I definitely think your Room plugin is quite good at rooms already. So, as long as that's what you're tailoring the plugin for, I'm sure it's fine. After all, even Valhalla Room is perfectly capable of generating artificial spaces if you want it to. And I'm just messing around right now, as it is, seeing what the knobs do and all that.

Beta release 1.9.6 is here.

This includes several adjustments to Dragonfly Room. The most visible change is that the first dial is now "Size" instead of "Oversample", which had a variety of issues.

Hey Sam, if you have a moment, please try Beta release 1.9.8. Now the hall reverb has a "Flutter" dial that controls the LFO effect. Previously that setting was hardwired at 30%, but now you can turn it down to zero to eliminate the effect, or turn it up to exaggerate it.

If that doesn't do the trick, try also setting spin to 0 Hz, which effectively disables the spin and wander features.

Any particular reason it's called "Flutter" rather than "Modulation" which is the established term?

Ha, this is the part where I admit that I have no idea what I'm doing.  I ask for a lot of feedback and then fix stuff when people call out that I did something really weird.

I'm using the term "flutter" mostly because that's how Sam described it.

To be fair, the Hibiki algorithm seems to use two different types of modulation; one uses spin and wander parameters, and the other involves two LFOs. What I called "flutter" is called "LFOF" in Hibiki. I take that to mean "LFO Factor", and the documentation says that it is "The strength of the LFO in the FDN loop".

So I could call it "Modulation", but Hibiki also has another parameter that I haven't exposed; it is called "SPNF", I think that means "Spin Factor", documented as "The strength of the output chorus". So I feel like in Hibiki, Spin Factor and LFO Factor control different types of modulation.

Feel free to tell me that the feature controlled by SPN/WAN/SPNF isn't actually modulation at all, and that will make this decision much easier.

Another possibility that somebody suggested elsewhere is to "gang" together Spin Factor and LFO Factor, making a single dial control both of them. I'm not sure I like that, because somebody might want to turn off the LFO effect while still getting the chorus effect from the spin/wander dials. Furthermore, if somebody wants the LFO effect without the chorus effect, they can set Spin to 0Hz.

All the parameters that you describe are part of the effect called modulation. As for "LFO effect without the chorus effect", would that even be audible? I mean without the pitch modulation, what does the LFO control? LFO in itself isn't an effect, it's an oscillator that some parameter is tied to, modulating it at the frequency of the LFO.

Hmm, well now I'm considering that maybe ganging Spin Factor and LFO Factor into a single "Modulation" dial might be a reasonable choice after all.
