I've updated the track again with the latest version. It's by no means finished, and I didn't get to everything everyone pointed out above; but I appreciate everyone's input so far. I've come to some good conclusions. I've been mixing more of the close mics into the True Strike 1 percussion (so everything except the gongs here), because I've noticed how WIDE and difficult to position everything sounds otherwise. On that note, I've conceded that I've been mixing with my eyes more than my ears lately; which approach was tossed to the wind on this mix as shall be done henceforth! Much more noticeable panning everywhere (I hope); bass drum, timpani, and brass sections down a tad to favor distance over decibels.
I've been at this for about a year, almost, and frankly I'm burned out on "Moon Wine" and on obsessively building a master template in general. I think at this point it'll be more beneficial to have some fresh musical ideas on which to apply some of the things I've learned and see where it goes from there, as far as template building is concerned.
