Then there's the interesting matter of setting up an orchestra that goes well with the metal parts while at the same time not sounding all thin and wonky when the heavy stuff drops out and there's a softer passage. Here's an example of the orchestra when more exposed in the second song, Awake.

The strummed guitar is meant to be an acoustic, but I won't bother micing and recording one until I have the arrangement firmly in place. So the timbre is going to change slightly there. But I think this works pretty well all on its own (not to say that it doesn't need a lot of additional work).
