Rather different, actually. Should fit nicely on the album, for sure. Pads have a way of doing that, I've noticed. Definitely nice to hear some synth in a VO track.

It might interest you (or not) to know that I've started working on Lore again. I listened through the tracks some week ago and actually felt a twinge of enthusiasm, and the latest days I've been poking around in the project, fixing things that bug me. Most notably I've started replacing a number of instruments with their VSCO 2 Pro counterparts, which I didn't have access to when I was working on the album last year. This obviously leads to even more work -- what with keyswitches, velocity response and general levels being completely out of whack -- but I think it's going to sound much better once that's been taken care of. Actually, the Miro 2 and VSCO 2 samples go really nicely together, since both libraries are smaller in scale and have a sort of gritty edge to them.
This time however I'm going to refrain from setting a deadline. I know I said earlier in this thread that "I'm not going to go GRRM on the album", but you know what, that's exactly what I'm going to do. I'm going to let it take its time. It'll be done when it's done.

I have a feeling I'm going to be apologizing quite a bit for being absent from the forum as I shift back into school mode; but, do know that I am still supportive of all your projects! I'll be interested to hear how the VSCO 2 stuff sounds in context.
Mattias, that sounds like a great idea. Looking forward to hearing the results, when you feel you are ready to share them.
I'm not overly surprised Mro 2 and VSCO 2 work well together for more or less the reason you stated, and it's good to know. I've actually been using VSCO 2 together with Eastwest libraries, despite the latter being much wetter/more cinematic-styled. While admittedly some instruments in VSCO 2 don't really work in the usual context of EW Hollywood, others fit in quite nicely (I pretty much always use VSCO 2 percussion patches over anything else, especially the mallets, and frequently use the ensemble patches as quick pads). Regardless, I'm definitely interested to hear the blend with Miro 2!

I'll probably be posting an example track or two in a little while. I have scaled back the reverb quite a bit as well, as I felt the old versions were far too smeary. Not super happy with the results just yet, but I'm going to try a few different reverbs. As much as I love VRoom and VVV (and Eos, for huge spaces), I think maybe I should try something a bit more real-sounding for this project. (11-04-2019, 02:01 PM)Terry93D Wrote: Glad that this lives. Here's an interesting discovery: I've had the ToneBoosters Track Essentials plugins since... 2014 or 2015? But I don't think I've used the included reverb even once, as I thought it was just an updated version of the old Omniverb plug.
But you know what? This is something completely different and it actually sounds pretty damn good! To think it's been sitting unused in my plugins dir for years Just a heads up if you're looking for a nice reverb on the cheap. And the rest of the bundle is really good too, though I think the reason I bought it originally was for Ferox, and that along with the compressor is what I've mostly been using.

And my decreased activity on the forum corresponds to decreased musical activity, unfortunately. In any case, everything tends to find a balance eventually, I suppose. |
