Spifire Audio Originals - Mattias Westlund - 12-19-2019
Have you guys seen these? The demos sound wonderful and they're only €29 a pop. I understand that they are "full ensemble" type instruments rather than individual sections, but still. At that price I can't help but wonder: What's the catch?

Wow, I'm surprised that they are just plain old VST/AU plugins instead of using Kontakt. They sound really good, and that one-time price is hard to argue with, it's mighty tempting.

They are indeed tempting, and I managed to answer my own question by posting this elsewhere. Apparently these virtual instruments are legacy products (based on the Albion 1 libs I was told?) that Spitfire have already made a sizeable profit from, so they can afford to sell these at a silly low price, for a bait and switch type of thing. "If you like this €29 nugget, why not try our NEW AND IMPROVED™ €500 library?"
Nothing wrong with that though, as they sound really good and you can't argue with a price like that. If I find myself having more than pocket change at my disposal after all the Christmas shopping is done, I'm definitely adding these to my arsenal.
