So, I just learned something new. We can create and label UI controls. I played around with it and I like the idea of extra controls within Sforzando.

I've been aware of it for some time but I haven't really had a reason to experiment with this feature until now. It's neat, but I wish you could create an actual GUI for the instrument with knobs and/or sliders. But for that you need to register your library with Plogue or something like that :/
Might wanna chat with DSmolkin. he does it regularly.

Very cool, I didn't know you could do that either.  Is that a Plogue-specific feature, or do other samplers support it too?

I might do that, thanks!

It only works in Sforzando/ARIA Player to my knowledge.
Update

Viola section added, plus various edits. All samples have been re-rendered due to the old multi I/O firewire interface I used for hooking up the Lexicon reverb seems to be on its last legs (it stops responding in the middle of rendering, and throws me BSOD's from time to time). So I had to set up a kind of hackish solution using my internal M-Audio interface and a Behringer UMC22 using ASIO4All to get enough ins and outs to feed stuff to the outboard unit. It works, but it's not 100% reliable and thus some samples have assorted clicks and pops. If any of you decide to check this version out, I'd be very thankful if you'd report to me any broken samples that you come across. Not asking you to go through almost 1500 samples one by one mind you; just that if you spot something, do tell so I can re-render just the bum notes instead of doing everything over from scratch. Rendering all notes in realtime through the Lexicon takes upwards of five hours...

Speaking of the Lexicon, I think I might have exaggerated the ambience a bit this time around. I mean, I think it sounds nice, but maybe it's a tad too much. I had a vague idea that I might try and render a 100% wet version and use that together with a completely dry one, and add a UI control for simply adding the ambience to taste. That would of course double the file size for everything, so I dunno.

New version here.
It's probably heretical to say this, but wouldn't it be easier to just use a software reverb? Smile

Whatever else you do, I'd definitely vote for providing a completely dry version of the samples.  Then people can add whatever reverb they want.

Here are the samples I've found so far that have clicks or other problematic noises in them.  Some of these probably come from the reverb, but others are clearly from the original samples.

I've also found two samples that have large amounts of silence at the beginning:

You know what... you're right. I tried re-rendering the notes you listed (thanks, btw!), but the only result was that I ended up with pops in other places instead. This is just too much trouble for very little if any benefit.
