Lovely track. We have two long-eared balls of floof here and when their time comes, I will probably feel the same way.
They generally ask for a specific genre. Instrumental is too broad a term and generally not preferred (I asked). I have been using 'Soundtrack' as a genre for Soundcloud but again, this isn't really a soundtrack.
He was growing old and I had been dreading the day for quite a while but no amount of preparation can actually prepare you for a thing like this. Even after a couple of months, I still haven't surpassed the stage of denial.
Since, you already have heard the track, is the mixing passable as professionally done? I have a few queries,
1. Is the high end too harsh? I am asking this as listening to this mix on headphones aggravates my tinnitus quite a bit.
2. During the 'chorus' part, is the harp and the piano jutting out? If yes, is that jarring for the listener?
3. Are the drums too loud?
Generally, in rock and metal mixes, the bass is gain matched with the kick and the snare sits on top but not too bright. I did not gain match the bass to the kick as the double basses and the low end of the celli tend to clash and left the snare a bit bright to cut though the strings.

Thank you. Glad you liked it.
Neither am I. I just listen what sounds good to my ears and write what I would like to hear but unfortunately, everything needs to be classified these days.
