The beginning reminds me of something, maybe, but i can't put my finger on it, which is frankly relativly normal for my process. So I cannot not really trust that feeling either way
Whoever has the same question about a tune of themselves, may hijack this thread and ask the same question.

Hmm. The melody at ~0:8 reminds me of something from Guild Wars Prophecies, but I'm not sure which track.

Thanks for digging that up! I kinda hear it and I kinda don't. But I think that song was, what was unconsciously playing a role.

Same here, I just kinda hear it and it's only a few notes, so I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

I often find myself wondering the same thing. I'll be working on some melody, then I'll think that surely I'm ripping off this melody from something, but I can't quite place it, so I'm not sure.

One time I was really excited about a melody, humming it to myself for days, thinking it was so brilliant that I really should capture a recording, only to find out later that it was from Holst's Jupiter. I felt really silly after that.

While we're on the subject, I've been wanting to ask Mattias for a while: Did you intentionally make an homage to the Heffalumps and Woozles song in the middle of your piece Council Dungeons?

To me, it sounds like only the broad musical ideas are similar. Unless you accidentally made a facsimile of a substantial portion of another composition, I'd say there's nothing to worry about.

Ohh, the relatable struggle! Had that a couple of times, now my mind decides to go extra paranoid instead every time I come up with something Though I have read not to long ago that the chorus of that the chorus of "Love" by Strapping Young Lad was according to the songwriter himself ripped from Yes, from the Song "City of love". I really have trouble hearing that. At all. Which leads me to believe, that a creator is always way more aware of the parallels. I had the same thing happening to me once with a Steven Wilson-Song and it sounded to me very alike, my bandmates couldn't hear the similarity at all.

What I wanna say is, to be careful to throw away good ideas, that are inspired by someone elses music, they will probably end up as your own music in the end along the way from my experience.

Wow. You're the first person to actually spot that in... what, six or almost seven years? Hats off! Yes, my daughter watched The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh almost daily when she was around two years old. Heffalumps and Woozles (as well as other musical numbers from that film) have become permanently ingrained into my mind ever since. I wasn't really going to keep that part in there -- because copyrights -- but at some point I just felt like... bah! It stays until Disney sends me a cease-and-desist. As you say it was definitely an homage! Some really great, charming music in that movie.

Hahaha, both my wife and I recognized it immediately. Not only do we have a little boy who loves Pooh Bear, but we had also heard songs from that soundtrack many times before that. I'm fairly confident that we're not the only ones who noticed, I'm just the first to speak up.
