I'm feeling like such a klutz right now.
I always thought Kontakt instruments with compressed (.ncw) samples were only useable in Kontakt. And, well, yes they are... but did you know that you can load one of these instruments in Kontakt Player in demo mode, choose "Save multi as..." from the file icon up top, and in the dialog that pops up uncheck "Compress samples", and that will let you extract the raw wave files?
Honestly, I had no idea. Has this functionality been there since day one in Kontakt Player? I feel stupid now for asking a couple of my Kontakt using friends to export stuff for me. I could easily have done it myself!
Anyway... if you didn't know either, there it is. I'm off to explore what other Kontakt freebies I might have missed due to thinking I couldn't load them in other samplers.
Edit: obviously this only applies to Kontakt instruments that are compressed, not encrypted, like in most commercial libraries.
