Heya. As most of us know, it's important to take advantage of inspiration when it hits, and not to waste time that we could be using actually making music. It's important to set up a template, or more than one for multiple situations that's tailored to the VSTs you use most often.
Here's what my DAW looks like when I open it up:

Basically the less time you spend setting up each day, the more time you can make music. It's that simple! I normally will divide my channels by their instrument section, and route each section to a common bus (the masters you see to the left). I then route the busses to the master mixer insert. This lets me apply reverb to a whole section without wasting precious CPU usage. I've also gone in and pre-set my automation channels to each of my instances of PLAY for eastwest so that I can quickly automate the mod and expression to get the natural feel I need.
You can set one up for full orchestra and all instruments like me if you have a strong computer, or you can lay out just for sections if you plan on having instances where, for example, you're only scoring strings. Hope that gives some people some ideas!
