Cool thanks for explaining. I think part A is his bright artistic side and part B is his self destructive opium smoking side and the little pause is him ignoring Watson. Anyway until the real arbiters of taste arrive... I agree quite good for a couple hours and I look forward to hearing more.

That is also an excellent interpretation! I was a big fan of Sherlock Holmes in my youth -- especially the dark and creepy stories like The Hound of the Baskervilles -- and to this day I have a soft spot for Victorian-era England and its contrasts. It was ugly and terrible but at the same time oddly charming and sophisticated. Then again I have a morbid fascination with dystopic settings. Whether 19th century gothic gloom, dreary WWII spy stories (Robert Harris' Enigma is one of my all-time favorite books) or cyberpunk, I love it!

It's good to hear a different genre. I like the composition. I can imagine the scene as you describe it but I can also see this being used in a circus setting for a high wire act as the performers gracefully move about.
