I've attempted to arrange "Snowing," from The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, into a style similar to that of Jeremy Soule in Skyrim.

Just dropping in to say that this is a cool idea! I'm not familiar with the original, but this sounds nice as it is, and I hear the Soule in it.

It's worth a listen. I'm really fond of the original, it's probably the best piece Eric Heberling wrote for the series. Listening back to mine after a day the only really bum note is that the bassline transfers from the double basses over to the bass clarinet during the cor anglais solo, which struck me as very unSoule.

Sounds lovely. I haven't heard the original either (despite my love for old games I played Daggerfall for ten minutes, then gave up). I definitely hear the Soule vibe, though I would push the strings even further back to really capture that wide, soaring quality of his music. If you listen to basically anything he's done the past 15 years, his strings are REALLY distant, sort of blurry. Otherwise, great job!

On a related note, a number of years ago I seem to remember seeing a project that attempted to remake Daggerfall with a modern grapchis engine. And no, I don't mean Daggerfall Unity. This had actual remade levels and assets and everything, and it looked fantastic but was only in alpha when I came across it. A couple years later when I went to check how it was coming along, I couldn't find any info on the project. I'm thinking either Bethesda shut them down, or I simply dreamt the whole thing. Does anyone else know what project I'm talking about?

There was also a project on Soundcloud where someone was redoing the music with samples, and that disappeared before I had a chance to listen to it, too.

Ah. So it's just Bethesda being Bethesda :/ Makes me wonder why they're so protective about Daggerfall of all things. Will Elder Scrolls VI be a Daggerfall remake or what?

Your stuff's inspiring! I really like the bells and the medieval feel. I'm not sure whether this was intentional, but there's a slightly old school feel to the mix / production. Something in the strings that almost reminds me of SNES. I could just be making that up based on the visual.

Obviously, you have a reason for looping it, but it might be fun, after the project is done, to do an extended version where you mess around with the orchestration a bit when it repeats.

Each very different in feel from the other: one a massive, orchestral piece which adds a harpsichord and bass guitar to the mix, a take on the idea of an imperial march; the other a still orchestral but considerably more pared-down, melancholic, emotional piece of music.

Departing for the world is absolutely beautiful. The instrumentation choices are delightful and the musical ideas blend naturally. It has a calm yet something-going-on quality which I find comforting.
