It's a very nice track, indeed! Unfortunately, I just don't have the time or the energy to be helpful with feedback at the moment. I can't say much other than "I like it!"
I'm sorry for your loss. I only ever lost one pet, really, and I never quite got over it. And that was eleven years ago. Haven't had one since. I just sort of live vicariously through other people and their pets!
I think your concerns about VO are really just a sign that you need a change of scenery, and it sounds like you are going for just that with something in the metal area. I know what you mean: it's really a beast to wrangle this stuff and make something of it. I also want to do other things (like metal, electronic, etc.) but I feel I have a lot left to do in the VO area, and it keeps calling my name. Right now, I'm far away from my rig. I actually dreamed about sitting at it (and having no ideas!) when I first moved to my school. The truth is I'm with you: I envy people who have that one thing that seems to guide them through their lives and that they seem to be successful at doing. I'm all over the place. I'm currently working on an MA and trying to decide what sort of career that will lead me to. I thought that since I was out here at the university and doing so much writing to begin with, maybe I would work on some creative writing in lieu of music; but then I just feel like I'm neglecting music. And THEN I feel like I should be doing school stuff anyway... All I really do besides school work is drink and play pseudo-wanky "solos" on the guitar
One good thing is that there is a growing interest in homegrown fantasy novels. You might consider having a look at DMR books and the zine Whetstone. A lot of it is geared toward a resurgence in sword and sorcery, but I think people will be interested in any "underground" fantasy they can get their hands on.
