I don't have the SONiVOX brass or woodwinds but I do have the strings. I got them cheap ($1 I think) back when I knew nothing about VO (I only know a little now). They got me started quite nicely and I didn't notice issues with them until much later. In fact, I still use them a lot. So if you're looking for something cheap to get you started, you can't really go wrong with that price.
As for getting other libraries below $100, I've got the Silver editions of EWQL Hollywood Brass and Woodwinds. Got them on sale for ~$70/each. I'm sure the Gold editions are deeper, but I've got everything I need in the Silver - for waaaay less money. I'd recommend checking that route out. The full orchestra is more than $100 even in sale, but I just bought the sections one at a time, as I was able. Maybe it's time for me to ditch SONiVOX and find Hollywood Strings on sale...
