Wow, thanks Sam! I wasn't expecting that, in fact I think that solo flute leaves a lot of things to be desired but I kept it in because I like its overall sound. Woodwinds are sadly underused in today's VO's though, and I can't understand why. While I've never been good at arranging chordal parts for woodwinds (I always end up with an organ type of sound), if I feel that a part needs a solo instrument, I find myself reaching for a woodwind 95% of the time. They just have so much more character than both strings and brass instruments.
Not to derail the topic, but I was goofing around with the VSCO 2 flute the other day with a breath controller and got some really nice results just using a filter and mapping the breath to control it-

In retrospect, the filter may be a little too aggressive, but it really responds nicely with the breath. I tried a few other instruments that used dynamic crossfading, but it actually didn't work as well as just sticking a filter and some volume modulation did. Instruments sampled just at a comfortable forte dynamic with one dynamic layer seemed to work particularly well, although I did have fun with some brass and such.
Interesting how the oldest solutions often seem to be the most resilient in the long-run- samplers have been using filters for dynamics since the beginning!
BTW- I tried it using some proper true legato string patches from Spitfire, but it really did not work well at all. Spitfire tends to sample things more on the quiet side for part of it, but the transitions were all screwy because the instrument does have some transition data (e.g. a few passing notes that get triggered very quickly when playing) that seemed to throw the true legato system off. It felt much, much better on plain ol' SIPS/WIPS legato by comparison! On the other hand, those spitfire strings feel great on the piano, while the WIPS/SIPS stuff doesn't quite feel as good on piano... interesting to see the strengths of the technologies so clearly.
