The Independent SFZ Documentation Project - Samulis - 07-29-2017 Hey all, I had a little extra time, so I finally started on a project I've been wanting to get going on for years, writing open documentation for the sfz format that is up to date and actually helpful. I got started earlier this week by setting up a wiki and writing the first dozen or so articles. I'm probably going to write 5-6 articles a week, and perhaps with the help of contributors, it should be fairly up to date in about half a year or so. http://sfz.versilstudios.net/index.php?title=Main_Page You're all welcome to check it out, tell me if I messed anything up, or if you have time and are willing to do so, contribute a few lines or even a page. Let me know what you think! RE: The Independent SFZ Documentation Project - bigcat1969 - 07-29-2017 Thanks for doing this. RE: The Independent SFZ Documentation Project - Paul Battersby - 07-29-2017 It would be great to see a single, complete source for sfz information, especially if it covers sfz2. A few years ago (you're probably already aware of this) someone started an sfz Wiki but didn't finish it: http://www.sfzformat.com/index.php?title=Main_Page Too many of the pages are just placeholders, but I like the layout of the SFZ 1 page: http://www.sfzformat.com/index.php?title=SFZ_1 RE: The Independent SFZ Documentation Project - Samulis - 07-29-2017 (07-29-2017, 12:20 PM)Paul Battersby Wrote: It would be great to see a single, complete source for sfz information, especially if it covers sfz2. Unfortunately the person who created that site had the bright idea to disable user accounts (at least last time I was on there) and not put up any contact information, so there was no way to join and help the process. RE: The Independent SFZ Documentation Project - Viktor - 07-29-2017 Thanks a lot for doing that, I'm not really using much sfz these days, but I think it still might be useful to dive a bit into it. And it's always great, when people support free formats! RE: The Independent SFZ Documentation Project - Mattias Westlund - 07-29-2017 This is a commendable effort! Good and thorough SFZ documentation is sorely needed. Sadly I don't have time to write wiki articles, and besides I don't use the format to any large degree so I don't know what I could contribute with. But if there is any other way I could help out, let me know. I have a folder full of SFZ example files from rgc:audio back in the day, could these be of use? I.e. demonstrations of basic SFZ 1.0 functions complete with audio files. Wow, hey, Totally! I've actually been looking for those! They were never mirrored anywhere after it all went dark, and there isn't a copy (to my knowledge) on the internet archive. I figure I'll just work on it piecemeal over a few months now that I have more time, that way at least it's out there for folks and they don't have to go digging anymore. RE: The Independent SFZ Documentation Project - Mattias Westlund - 07-29-2017 Some 2004 files coming your way then RE: The Independent SFZ Documentation Project - Samulis - 07-29-2017 Thanks a bunch Mattias! 2004 is how I like all my files. D: RE: The Independent SFZ Documentation Project - Mattias Westlund - 07-29-2017 2004 was a good year. ...well, it was a year anyway. |
