My own Orchestra Soundfont - AriannaC0807 - 10-20-2016 I have made my very own Orchestra Soundfont. What I did is that I borrowed a lot of different .sf2 files and mixed them together into one BIG Orchestra Soundfont since I didn't even have a REAL orchestra myself. I also recorded some samples in some instruments myself. The .sf2 files are here: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/0B2I_8bgGH-Q3QUxsOHF5cnlfcXc?fd=true You can also make beautiful compositions and arrangements of any kind of classical, jazz, Rock, Bluegrass, Contemporary, Baroque, Country, Videogame Music, or whatever kind of music you want in programs like MuseScore, or Finale just by sending it to me in the comments below. And make sure to adjust each volume of each instrument and add some concert hall reverb to make it sound like a REAL performance. Enjoy. And let me see what you all created with my Soundfont. RE: My own Orchestra Soundfont - Otto Halmén - 10-20-2016 Ha! Looks like I really am the only one here who hasn't released a sample library. ![]() Welcome aboard, Arianna! ![]() RE: My own Orchestra Soundfont - Otto Halmén - 10-20-2016 Could you list which of the samples are your own creations? I (and I'm pretty sure others on this forum as well) have been trying to collect all the usable freeware samples out there. We've got most of the classic freeware soundfonts already, and I for one would love to try out new, original samples if you've got them. ![]() Also, thanks for the hard work. ![]() RE: My own Orchestra Soundfont - AriannaC0807 - 10-21-2016 (10-20-2016, 11:19 PM)Otto Halmén Wrote: Could you list which of the samples are your own creations? Well for me, I recorded solo Violin Samples for the 2nd Violin Solo.sf2 file. For the rest of the instruments, I took a lot of better soundfonts that are orchestral ones. RE: My own Orchestra Soundfont - Otto Halmén - 10-21-2016 Anyway, I loaded up the .sf2 in sforzando and tried it out. That's a really nice timbre you managed to get. Solo violin is one of those things that you can't have too much to choose from, as e.g. a fiddle lib won't do well for classical passages, etc. ![]() Some of the notes sound a little out of tune, and there's a bit of low frequency noise here and there. Could be something was lost in translation, as sforzando doesn't play .sf2 as-is, but converts it to .sfz, but it's not like tiny issues like these can't be fixed with a little editing anyway. ![]() Here's a demo for those who stumble into this thread: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ypuogeih2k3b4yl/Arianna%20Violin%20Demo.wav?dl=0 RE: My own Orchestra Soundfont - AriannaC0807 - 10-21-2016 (10-21-2016, 12:28 PM)Otto Halmén Wrote:Thanks. But is there any way to open this in another app than just DropBox? Because I don't even have the DropBox app. RE: My own Orchestra Soundfont - Otto Halmén - 10-21-2016 Hmmm... I haven't tested DropBox on mobile, but on a computer DropBox should be able to preview audio files in the browser. It may prompt you to install an app, but it should be possible to simply close the dialog box. ![]() Anyway, in case it simply refuses to work, it's available here as well. It's only a short, baroque-style demo anyway. ![]() RE: My own Orchestra Soundfont - AriannaC0807 - 10-21-2016 (10-21-2016, 04:06 PM)Otto Halmén Wrote: Hmmm... So can you please give me a lot of audio demos of ALL the instruments from my Orchestra Soundfont just by giving me the links? RE: My own Orchestra Soundfont - Otto Halmén - 10-21-2016 I'm a bit busy, but I could record a fully fledged demo song eventually. Gotta finish the demo for Paul Battersby's Virtual Playing Orchestra first, and even that's something I managed to fit in because I needed a new "palate cleaner" project to help take breaks from my actual work. So yes, eventually, sure, but if you're just about to have a proper launch or something, you might want to ask around for other demo makers. Shouldn't be impossible to find one. ![]() RE: My own Orchestra Soundfont - Mattias Westlund - 10-22-2016 Hi Arianna and welcome to Scoring Central! Otto pointed me to your symphony made with SSO and it literally made my jaw drop. Awesome work on that one, and by far the most ambitious thing I've ever heard the library used for! Anyway, I've had a look at these soundfonts of yours, and while it's an impressive collection I feel that I must point out that some of these samples you've used -- unknowingly, I'm sure -- are copyrighted and and actually not legal to use like this. I haven't looked at everything but several of the section wooodwinds (e.g. Clarinets Staccato, 1st layer of Flutes Staccato, 1st and 2nd layer of Oboes Sustain) are from the old Miroslav library. I know you, you probably plucked these from the Squidfont or Bellatrix sf2's, I'm just letting you know that the origins of some samples used are fishy and you should be careful with uploading and sharing them. Pragmatically I don't think there's any immediate legal danger -- these soundfonts have been floating around the web for half an eternity and I've never ever heard of anyone getting into trouble over using or distributing them -- I just want both you and people downloading the files to be aware of it. Sorry for raining on your parade ![]() Nice work on the solo violin though! Like Otto says it could use a bit of editing in terms of tuning but I like the overall sound of it, it has a bit of grit and isn't as polite as most solo violin samples out there. This is definitely a welcome change. You haven't recorded any additional articulations for it, by any chance? |
