In the small ocarina in believe that
ocarina_A#4_staccato0.wav is A
ocarina_C5_staccato0.wav is B
ocarina_F#5_sustain0.wav is G

Hey BC, just checked on these and you appear right on all three. Renamed, and I ended up deleting the old 'G5 sustain' sample and replacing it with the new one.

Peastman, checked out the Yamaha upright, I'll see if there are any missing samples that were looked over. Definitely right about that.

Already fixed the TX81Z sample issue- no idea what caused that or why it happened.

Any further issues or things you need renamed, I think I'd prefer if it were posted here- still not sure what is going on with those renames for the SFZ branch. I really don't mind doing that stuff and it's easy for me to push the changes quickly and safely.

Ok, no problem.  Here are the ones I've found.  There's a lot of them, though most should be pretty quick.

Pipe Organ: Specify notes by name instead of number.  Also, how do you want to handle the pedals?  Should those be separate articulations?  If so, then move them into their own folders.
Upright Piano, Knight: Specify notes by name instead of number
TX81Z: Specify layers as vl1, vl2, etc.
Wine Glasses: Add note names.  Split the samples into two folders called "Sustains" and "Releases".
Balafon: Specify layers as vl1, vl2, etc.
Cajon: Specify round robins as rr1, rr2, etc.
Claps: Put everything in one folder and rename to show what's actually going on: a single articulation with two "notes".  The first is a group clap with six round robins, the other is a solo clap with four velocity layers.
Gong 2: Rename files to clarify which are velocity layers, which are round robins, and which are separate notes.
Hand Chimes: Specify notes by name instead of numbers.
Shaker, Small: Specify round robins as rr1, rr2, etc.
Slapstick: Rename files to clarify which are velocity layers, which are round robins, and which are separate notes.
Tambourine 3 - Legacy: Specify round robins as rr1, rr2, etc.
Tambourine 4 - Legacy: Specify round robins as rr1, rr2, etc.
Tambourine 5 - Legacy: Specify round robins as rr1, rr2, etc.
Tubular Bells 1: Capitalize note names.
Tubular Bells 3 - Legacy: Capitalize note names.
Vibraslap: Rename files to clarify which are velocity layers, which are round robins, and which are separate notes.
Woodblock: Rename files to clarify which are velocity layers, which are round robins, and which are separate notes.
Bass Drum 3 - Legacy: Specify round robins as rr1, rr2, etc.
Darbuka: Specify layers as vl1, vl2, etc. and round robins as rr1, rr2, etc.
Legacy Snares: Specify round robins as rr1, rr2, etc.
Legacy Toms: Specify round robins as rr1, rr2, etc.
Timpani 1: Add note names.
Timpani 2: Add note names.
In the Knight piano, are the Dyn2 and Dyn3 folders really supposed to be different articulations, or are they velocity layers?  If they're layers, they should be combined into a single "Sustains" folder and renamed to specify layer as vl1 and vl2.  Also the Rel folder should then be renamed Releases.

Sorry for putting all this work onto you!  I'm totally willing to do the renaming myself.  But if you prefer to do it, that's fine.

I mean, if you have time to do it and are up for the task, that's fine, I was just really confused with the last pull you sent because the sfz branch appeared to not match the changes at all and I don't want to break your instruments on that branch by doing the pull with the renamed/reorganized samples you've done already. I can do it, it'll just probably take a week or two for me to come around to having time to sit down and go through the list.

Dyn2 Dyn3 are dynamic layers, so yes, vl1 vl2 if you want, although technically they are vl2 and vl3 from the instrument. Note that many sample sets are reduced from more detailed sets, e.g. a 8 dynamic layer snare might only have 3-4 layers in VCSL.
Ok, I'll get started on it.  As long as I do the push to the master branch first, then you pull them over to the sfz branch, there shouldn't be any problems.

What did it show as being different?  The changes should be identical to what I'd already done on that branch.

Ah, I see. I thought your instructions meant if the changes HAD NOT yet been applied to the SFZ branch (i.e. show that nothing could be merged in the pull comparison), then something is wrong. I will finish the pull, then.
I'm fixing up the wrong notes on the ocarina.  What shall I do about the "F#5" sample that's really G5?  You already have a sample for G5.  Personally, I think the mislabeled sample is the better one of the two.  How do you want to handle them?

Another incorrect sample: Xylo_Hard_G3_pp_01_far.wav is actually F#, and it's also louder than most of the other samples that are marked as pp.

I already did the Ocarina fix, I just haven't pushed it yet.

Will double check the Xylo... I'll deal with any note errors personally, as it typically means either relabeling or finding a new sample entirely, so it's best if I can make that call.
Since there hasn't been much feedback yet, thought I would pass on a word of praise for the Harpsichord from the blog.
"The English Harpsichord is perfect. Love it!"

Haven't gotten it out yet, but mapped one of the Kiowa Pianos for Maize. Forgot how much fun mapping pianos was! Tongue

Mentioned this place on KVR to Royosho. He was inspired by you guys sfz work and wants to pick up sfz coding again and start working on some advanced type strings. So grats on inspiring people with your crazy scripting skills. Hopefully he says hey here at some point.

Thanks for sharing the comment, BC!

Paul has been doing a lot of heavy renaming of sounds, so keep an eye out if you re-download or re-sync, it may break any currently mapped stuff you have if you try to replace the files. He did fix a few things that didn't have pitches labeled on them or had wrong pitches, and I have a few fixes I'll be pushing myself too. The next version I send out should be pretty well on the way to consistency, although one of the timpani I think still has no pitch names/tuning, leaving it up to the user to figure them out. That will probably need to be sent off to be tuned and labeled properly by people with more experience and batch processing know-how than yours truly.

I have some stuff I am almost ready to add too- maybe this week if I have time. I hope to get in some sessions recording more basic instruments (guitars, saxes, etc.) later this month, again, time (and finances) permitting.

PS-
Just got my "vintage" melodica in... that classic "analog warmth", hehehe. Should be on the docket for sampling as soon as the natural combinations of low noise, proper time to not disturb neighbors, and general willpower align.

Could use some thoughts on the harmonicas. I did a few different types of vibrato (cheesy and probably horribly wrong 'breath' vibrato vs. cheesy and probably horribly wrong 'hand' vibrato) and also some different stuff about dynamics/attacks. Not sure what is worth doing and what isn't. Tried some of them myself and I really liked the hard attacks. Staccato didn't seem to work well to me, but maybe I just did it too short. Also considering using a different mic (I have a vintage Shure mic that is closer to what is popularly used on the instrument, which has less bass and less highs).

Any other general thoughts or suggestions (by anyone) on the overall direction, scope, and consistency (or lack thereof) of the set is most welcome. I'm taking a moment to reflect on how the project is proceeding and your input is always helpful here.
