Well, there's more than one freeware lib out there now, but SSO still has something of a distinct sound, so I could imagine some people out there might still prefer it.

Me, for example!
SSO's wind section is still my favorite among the free libraries, and having a looped version of it could be really handy. Thanks for creating this!
Looping all the SSO sustain samples is a major accomplishment. I can certainly understand the amount of hard work necessary to get that done. Good job!
This might be very helpful! I prefer SSO, too.
Will check it out.
Wow, nice work! And you haven't lost your mind either? I'm impressed
Thanks everyone! :-)
I don't know how to do formatting for multiple quotes, so I just use "@" style:
@Otto, peastman & kneedeep,
Having used SSO for years, I also agree. SSO has its character, and perhaps it grew on many of us, being what we have for free for a long time now.
@Paul
Thanks! A lot of trial and error (and caffeine & sugar... )
This might be useful advise to a fellow looper: Maybe obvious, but use the best headphones/speakers from the start! I made a mistake of using my default bassy consumer headphones, at first. Then later discovered with an ATH-M70x that there were clicks that I missed.
BTW, I attempted to copy your key switching style so that users might easily switch between libraries (VPO).
@Mattias
Thanks for creating SSO in the first place! I may have lost my mind a long time ago though. :-)
Cheers!

I find key switches essential. I had created some for SSO a few years ago and made them publicly available but I don't know how many people noticed.

I did! They are, as you say, completely indispensable. Especially after I figured out how to write a script in Logic Pro to convert articulation IDs to key switches, which makes them a lot more convenient to work with.
I wonder if this would be a good time to release SSO 2.0? There've been a lot of enhancements to it released over the years, and it would be nice to bundle them all together in a single download.

That's interesting, I consider VPO to be the successor to SSO. I'm still kind of new to using SFZ samples, and Paul started working on VPO soon after I started exploring the idea of using SFZ instruments, so I never ended up using SSO much.
I do admit that it has a different sound to it: SSO has some stage presence baked in, while VPO much more dry out of the box, and there are probably a lot of other nuances that I haven't picked up on.
It seems like there are plenty people who would appreciate an official version 2 of SSO, if somebody wants to own it. I'm guessing that Mattias has enough obligations right now that he doesn't need yet another project to manage.
